Courses and Training
We organise regular training from BSAC Ocean Diver, which is the entry-level grade, up to the highest branch-awarded grade, Advanced Diver. All training is done by BSAC qualified instructors, who will then take trainees out into open water to continue their training. Full details of the BSAC Ocean Diver Course cam be found here: Ocean Diver Details
Once qualified as a BSAC Ocean Diver, we encourage our divers to continue their training within the club, where they can move ahead at their own pace in a safe and friendly environment.
Most of the open water training takes place at Gildenburgh Water near Peterborough, regular open water training sessions are organised from April to October.
We also take our trainees on trips to the coast to expand their training and to enjoy some diving using our two club RIBs.
If you are interested in being trained please contact the Training Officer email
Trainees will need to join Cambridge Sub Aqua Club (CAMBSAC) and the national governing body, the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) to ensure all trainees and instructors are appropriately insured.
Skill Development Courses (SDCs)
Many of the branch's instructors are also approved SDC instructors. We are therefore able to run the majority of SDCs within the branch, including all those required as part of Dive Leader/Advanced Diver training.
We have recently run Boat Handling, Advanced Nitrox, VHF (GMDSS), Compressor operators and a Nitrox gas blender courses.
